EV Fire Blanket 8 x 6m, Fire Cloak

An 8 x 6m fire limitation blanket for an electric car in thermal runaway. Two people pull it over the car by the reinforced handles. It holds the flames, heat and smoke under the blanket, which protects the cars either side and the building while the fire service is on its way. A lithium battery in thermal runaway makes its own oxygen, so a blanket will not put the fire out. Its job is to contain it. The size suits saloons, hatchbacks, compact vans and smaller 4x4s, which is most of what comes through an independent workshop.

Fire Cloak is certified to DIN SPEC 91489:2024-11, the specification written for EV fire blankets, and rated A2-s1, d0 under EN 13501-1. In Fire Cloak's live test at HORIBA MIRA it was pulled over a Nissan Leaf in advanced thermal runaway, and the temperature fell from over 900°C to 47°C in under ten minutes. The fabric is modified glass fibre with a silicone coating on both sides, sewn with stainless steel thread, and it lasted 90 minutes at 1,000°C in a furnace test before the test was stopped.

It comes folded in a waterproof IP65 roll-top bag and weighs 28kg with the bag. Keep it near the EV bay or quarantine area, where two people can get to it quickly. Designed and made in the UK.
